I may have gone way too far overboard. I have an incredible 20 mares in foal! I have no idea what I am going to do with all those babies. As long as I have been breeding these horses, you would think I would know better.
Sires used this year were:
The second sire I used this year is Bold Movin On The Bay. He is an English Grand Champion and a direct son of English Grand Champion Burpin On The Bay. Currently Blue has 64 points towards his national championship and has made a habit of throwing strong foals that carry his and Burb's incredible line. He packs a punch with Betty Boopie ROMX and National Champion Laers Black Bourbon.
The next sire to leave his mark on my herd is Extremely Good II. This is this stallion's first time at Winchester Performance. He is a Futurity Winner and has his Advanced title. Nothing in his pedigree has surpassed him, but as strong as he is, I believe him to be a viable producer of competitors.
You would have to know that a breeding season doesn't pass at my place, without Hott Sage N Silver. He is my homebred English National Champion who is currently progressing towards a World title. Fingers crossed he makes it, but in the mean time, he allows me the chance to pass down the wonderful genetics of the Grand Champion Classic Sagebrush lines.
And how about this wonderful horse, Blue Eyed Wonder? He is being used for my Appendix lines. I purchased him as a suckling from Three Chimneys Farms and I have never looked back. I have never considered selling him despite his affected status. He too has proven himself to be a strong daddy, and I hope to be working one of his babies under saddle soon. He brings with him Grand Champ Playyboy, World Champ Spark of Confidence, and World Champ Banned! Not to mention, he is incredibly good looking.
Sadly, this next stallion has passed away, like so many greats before him. Mr. Banned will only be used this season as a sire. He himself is a National Champion and his pedigree includes World Champion Banned.
Black Tie Kustom is another of my homebred stallions that represents so much to me as a sire and friend. I sold him several years ago, and he too has passed on. He goes back to my all time favorite, Grand Champion My Own Mudpit, My Kinda Party II, and Iyudaliha lines. He brings classic and rock solid strength to my program.
And finally, the last stallion to be used this year is Sarpedon II. He is relatively untested at my ranch, but I am encouraged by his personal fitness and his pedigree. He is son to World Champion Sarpedon and grandson to National Champion FrontPage. On his Quarter Horse side, he is a grandson to World Champion Sheza Hott Commodity.

As always stunning selections and I know that only the best mares get bred at your place. This is why having a Winchester Performance horse in the stable is enough to make many of us giddy like a kid in a candy store! Can hardly wait to drool over these foals already!
ReplyDeleteYou have made my day! Thank you!
DeleteVery excited to see all those babies. Now that I have cut way back on my own breeding, I live vicariously through ranches like yours in foaling season. :-).
ReplyDeleteAnd the blog looks fabulous too.
I want to live vicariously. Lol, what in the world am I going to do with 20 babies? What was I thinking?
DeleteDon't feel like the Lone Ranger over there lol. I'm running close to 30 for the season and still trying to figure out what was in my head when I decided on it. The blog looks great and I'm happy to see you've found a good place for His Allure over at your farm. He's a darn good horse and deserved to be where he could shine. :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness! You do realize that between us, that's 50 babies? Good Lord. As for His Allure, what a gorgeous stallion and I am BEYOND shocked no one snagged him before I did!!
DeleteI think a lot of farms are slowing down for the summer, or at least it seems that way. We're in a roller coaster effect here at ColorBlind, with horses set for the auctions and horses coming in as well. It seems that restructuring almost resembles a circus, but it is so worth it in the long run.
DeleteAllure is a sweet stallion, so I was shocked he sat as long as he did as well. He has a heart full of try in him! I have a few more mares that I need to check confirmation on in the morning when the vet stops out, but once I'm sure of the total, I'll be putting out a full post. Here's to insane breeding seasons!
Final total over at ColorBlind is *drumroll*.... ..... 34 foals expected. I do believe we've succeeded in representing the Lone Ranger and Tonto perfectly lol.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I think the appropriate question is...what are YOU going to do with 34 foals? I look forward to browsing through them when they are born, I have become such a fan of your Quarter Horses. I am getting SO excited about His Allure's foals hat I am ready to come unglued and out of my chair! Since Lotto Jackpot and My Own Mudpit passed away, I have been LOOKING so hard for that next "it" stallion!
DeleteAt any rate, I think its pretty awesome you have so many foals on the way. I would be terrified! My 20 are a little daunting for me as I hand train until they have the basic concepts then switch to trainers. That's a lot of little boys and girls to get halter broken and ground driven!
I found it hysterical that you called your restructuring a circus, with 34 babies on the way, your place is definitely one I want to watch. I cant wait to see your blog in the next gm that showcases your best and brightest!
I'm well-worn on the circus or zoo paths lol. Four "terrors" who monopolize the gaming systems in the lounges, a lovely rottie/boxer mix who polices the aisles in the barns, wandering from one to another, checking on all the horses, plus the uncountable number of barn cats. Our favorite little Burmese just had a new litter of four as well, so that brings the number up to... erm... well I'll ask the terrors later when they get done playing xbox, but I think it's up to nearly 10 in house and god knows how many in the neighborhood we like to call the farm.
DeleteKeeping track of the small animals and children is as wild as watching the bred mares throughout the season lol. The oldest terror has already set up residence on a couch near Raining Empire's stall. He apparently plans to live there til she drops her foal. I did TRY to tell him that is months away.... His response "mhmm and there's a shower in the lounge. I'll make do. Night." and promptly went to sleep on the couch lol. Stubborn and proud of the old girl he is.
As for what I'll do with 34 foals... well... the same thing I do every night Pinky... Try to take over the world. ;)
